Milk aplenty!

So, I have a plugged duct in my right breast. This started two nights ago. I have been massaging it and it's still there today, so I called and made an appointment with an LC (they are awesome -- free breastfeeding support to all mothers! I love my clinic). I just wanted to see if there was something I was missing or if I needed to do something differently. She felt the bump and it's really deep right by the breastbone. She said those ones tend to be really stubborn but she recommended some heat (just take a hand towel and soak it with hot water and apply pressure all around), continue to massage it up, even though it is hard to do with the location of it, and take a hot bath once or twice a day and the water should help too.

She said since I have an abundant supply (poor Elise is still getting sprayed in the face with a lot of the feedings and she ends up coughing and crying), I could try pumping first thing in the morning and then offer that breast and see if she can help suck that milk out of there. She did warn not to pump TOO much or I'd have more problems, since I already have so much milk.

She said that this will probably take a few days to resolve since it is in there so deep, but to call them if I get a fever -- she said it's not that I'm at risk for mastitis, but she's seen it happen where someone is borderline and then they call back a few hours later with a fever.

She was so nice! Oh, and she asked if we wanted to weigh Elise before we fed her, and I said, "sure, why not?" She's up to 9 lbs, 1 oz. (she was 6 lbs, 12 oz at birth and 8 lbs, 8 oz exactly a week ago!) My little piggy.

ouch, those clogged ducts can be painful. I got one when I was nursing too. Hang in there Momma!

I'm sorry about the clogged duct but obviously it is not phasing little Elise's eating habits in the least! What a great growing girl. :-)
