Reason for concern? Moms, help me out...

Andrew hasn't had a solid, formed poop in probably a month. It's not quite diarrhea, although sometimes it is, but more really mushy, peanut butter-like poop. Really gross.

He is acting fine--no fever, no irritability. No weird new foods that would be the culprit.

His poor bum was all red after his fourth poo of the day. I slathered his junk and bum in California Baby Calming Diaper Rash Cream (the best stuff ever).

Hello...Blog stalker here!
I have a 19 month old and his poop is the same way. I dont know if your LO drinks a lot of milk, but my little guy drinks about 48oz of milk a day and our pedi said it was probably from that, plus he eats a ton of fruits.
Also, I think I have read that you are still nursing?? Maybe your milk is changing over and that could be some of the diaper issues?
My little guy has such sensitve skin and so he gets diaper rashes very easliy. We started to use Goats Milk Soap and it will clear the rash up overnight with help of a good butt cream (which it sounds like you alreayd have!) I personally would call the Drs office and just make sure he is OK though, but wanted to let you know that you are not alone! :)

I don't know Sarah. I would check in with your pedi. I know that for newborns, once they get a little GI bug, it can take weeks and weeks and weeks for their GI tract to fix itself, even when they are feeling fine. But I don't know about older kids. My girls never had that happen.

I hope Andrew is good though!

My son has very soft stools pretty much always. I think it's just because he drinks a lot and he does eat a lot of fruit. The Dr. wasn't concerned, he's just always been that way. I think my daughter was also that way. They've never been constipated. Guess I'm lucky with that.

There's nothing wrong with checking with the doctor though. Maybe just call their office and see what they have to say.

It's never a bad idea to ask your pediatrician about it, because that's a long time for non-solid poop. JessicaB might be on to something - if he's been drinking a lot of milk or dairy, that can cause interesting stool.

Maybe he's allergic to something? Maybe he's not getting enough rice? The Boy's in a constipated mode right now, due to the excessive amounts of rice chex and rice noodles he's been eating.
